Sleep is vitally important for physical, emotional and mental well being. That is why we spend approximately 30% of our lives sleeping, or trying to sleep. Pharmacists have problems with patients suffering from sleeping disorders since it is difficult to find over-the-counter products to treat these conditions. Doctors also have similar difficulties as most products cause a lot of side effects, dependence and interactions. However there are now natural products containing phyto-extracts that give good therapeutic results without causing interactions with other medications, nor side-effects if taken at the recommended dose.

ALTACARE Laboratoires – Paris have launched on the market the Controller range of soups, patches and ampoules to aid at promoting a peaceful night’s sleep and what’s excellent is they are all 100% natural!

The Controller Sommeil Ampoules are at the top of the range for they are made up of high quality ‘fresh’ natural ingredients. Yes, that’s right, fresh! In ampoules unlike in the case of tablets and capsules, there is no drying, processing, compressing and adding of preservatives. Apart from therefore being fast acting, they are non-addictive and give marvellous results especially for a fresh and recharged feeling in the morning.

The Controller Soup contains Marjoram, a phyto-extract known not only for its sedating and relaxing properties but also for its effect on muscular and arthritic pain, as well as being a neurotonic. Infusions of Chamomile have been also used because they help in the treatment of restlessness and in mild cases of insomnia due to nervous disorders. Passiflora and Basil were approved and incorporated to treat nervousness, agitation and to promote sleep. Other favourable natural ingredients are found in the Controller Patches. These include St. John’s Wort, a phyto-extract with anti-depressive properties, proven to be as effective as other anti-depressants as well as the Kava Kava and Passiflora- extracts with relaxant and no sedating side effects. The Controller Patches also contain Hawthorn extracts that are bioflavonoids and antioxidants that help improve micro-circulation.

Many often complain that sleepiness interferes with their concentration and makes handling day to day responsibilities more difficult. For many, this problem can be related to insufficient sleep. That can mean poor quality of sleep, even if you get enough hours of it. Not having the right dose of rest at night explains some daytime symptoms of sleepiness, such as early morning headaches, depression, irritability, lack of sexual drive and difficulties with learning and concentration. Conversely, disrupted sleep patterns can lead to persistent insomnia, exhaustion, lethargy, drowsiness, anxiety, stress, listlessness and sluggishness. Furthermore, it can weaken the immune system and diminish the capacity of your memory.

Any problem linked to sleeping is considered to be a sleeping disorder. This would include difficulty falling or staying asleep, falling asleep during inappropriate hours, oversleeping, or abnormal behaviours associated with sleep. Unfortunately many of us blindly spend lots of money on the wrong over-the-counter sleeping aids or stimulants to stay awake during the day.

The consumption of long-acting or high-dose sedatives to aid sleep can increase daytime drowsiness over time, making the problem worse, not better. This counts for the use of antihistamines (main ingredient in over-the-counter sleeping pills) against insomnia, as these can also lead to similar difficulties. Prescribing powerful tranquilizers frequently provokes immunity to the drug rather then promoting a natural, restful sleep. As a result, one may become more dependent on the drug with the result that one may conclude that more of the drug is needed. Thus, frequent use of the medication would eventually increase the side effects and tolerance level. A common result when discontinuing the tranquilizer is a rebound worsening effect of insomnia.

The Controller range by ALTACARE Laboratoires – Paris is an exceptional natural alternative that promotes numerous benefits, especially for those with problems of falling asleep and those taking naps during the day, or are light sleepers. The Controller range is also beneficial for those who suffer from anxiety, have different work routines that disrupt their sleep pattern or drink a lot of caffeine products. An important factor to appreciate in the Controller range is that one achieves higher and longer lasting energy levels during the day. Controller reduces anxiety and stress, whilst enhancing concentration and focus. The Controller products regenerate physical and mental capacity and help at maintaining a strong, healthy immune system. Furthermore, they boost mental oxygen intake and delivery, plus support the natural nocturnal release of hormones and endorphins. One cannot miss mentioning the promotion Controller grants to anti-aging and longevity.

When making use of the ALTACARE Laboratoires – Paris products, apart from their efficacy, one will value also the luxury in their presentation and quality. The Controller Sommeil come in a set of glass ampoules containing a very pleasant tasting preparation. One of these taken pure or diluted in water or juice before going to bed will help you fall asleep and maintain a high-quality, refreshing rest.

Apart from being very economical, Controller Soup contains no artificial additives, agents or taste enhancers, but only vegetables that are all organic with a very high content of minerals and active substances. Moreover, no preservatives are needed as it is conserved in a 300g decompressed tin! The Controller Soup is gluten free and high in fibre as the vegetables are in a fibre base. It is extremely fast and easy to prepare as it only takes blending five teaspoons of this unique instant mix in a bowl, with 40cl of boiling water and there you have it!

I think it so outstanding to get the same treatment as the Controller Soup and Ampoules by just slapping a Controller Patch onto the skin like a sticking plaster! One to two of these patches applied preferably on the shoulder, will give a rapid onset of action because of this innovative type of delivery system.

Sacrifice sleep and you sacrifice peak performance. Coffee can keep you going for a while. But nothing can compensate for sleep. Your body needs it and your brain needs it. Making up for lost sleep feels a luxury. So even though you cannot replace lost sleep all at once, getting stocked up with your choice of natural but luxurious sleeping supplements, such as those offered by ALTACARE Laboratoires – Paris, will surely make you feel invigorated….Sweet dreams!

It is usual for babies to wake up several times during the night to gurgle or toss around this is a normal human sleeping pattern it’s just that a baby involves the parent in this waking process thus disturbing the parents sleep. If the baby has trouble falling asleep and time for cradling and swaying by the parent is limited, then there are some products on the market that can help sooth the baby off to the land of nod.

A pacifier is a simple and long time tried and tested baby sleeping aid it has been recommended by the AAP to aid sleep for babies as sucking is a natural comforting response for all babies. Although parents do worry about negative orthodontic effects of sucking a pacifier the AAP recommends just using it at night to aid sleep for the child’s first year. A swaddling blanket is a good way to make your baby feel comfortable at bedtime, the secure wrapping of a swaddling blanket will help prevent reflexes during sleep giving a more comfortable sleep for the baby.

Another relaxation tool to get baby off to sleep are the soft noise baby sleeping aids such as the white noise machine. The idea behind this is that it produces soft background noise that is similar to what the baby experiences in the mothers womb thus promoting sleep, a cheaper alternative to this could be simply the old fashioned soft music mobile over the baby’s crib. A baby swing or baby rocker is a really good sleeping aid that simply slowly rocks the baby in a side to side motion that imitates a mothers sway, the baby can be put in this while the parent can get ready for bed and usually the baby will be asleep within minutes.

budurl.com Baby Sleep Music creates a Peaceful and Relaxing Atmosphere for you and your baby. Lullabies is a CD with original Baby Sleeping Music. Babies sleep Music, Baby to Sleep Music. The CD, Lullabies, is, as the name says, a sequence of newly composed lullabies (baby sleep music), each of which tells its own little story. The melodic material is significantly advanced, so they harmonize with the childs enhanced consciousness and ability to comprehend actual melodic sequences in the babies sleep music. At the same time the composers have sought to preserve the tranquil and secure atmosphere in the baby sleep music by purposely using repetition as an artistic effect. Some of the baby sleeping music compositions on Lullabies have an almost hypnotic expression, something that naturally also influences the listening experience of the adults. Baby sleep music is highly recommended for adults as well as babies!

Sleep disorders are often frustrating problems because of the way lack of sleep makes you feel. There are centers to help people with sleep disorders, but unfortunately most people do little to try to solve the problem. Many people refuse to check themselves into a sleep disorders center because they do not see sleep disorders as a serious problem and think they can get rid of the issue themselves.

Often, this is because most people assume the average sleep disorder is a minor problem that a simple over the counter sleeping aid can cure. In some cases, this is accurate. In other cases, such a casual attitude towards sleeping disorders has a highly negative effect.

For many centuries, sleep disorders were often quite misunderstood. In years past, virtually any medical condition was a mystery, but psychological conditions were among the most misunderstood. There is a significant reason for this: you can’t see the root of a psychological disorder as you can a physical one.

For example, if one suffers a cut and requires stitches, the physical problem and the treatment are both obvious. There is little debate on the matter and the ability to diagnose the problem is quite easy. With psychological problems, such as depression and anxiety, it is very difficult to determine the root of the problem. In many cases patients are misdiagnosed.

The reason for this is that mostly all psychological or psychiatric problems derive from issues in the central nervous system. Because of this, we do not see the origin of the problem, we only see the results. In many cases, the psychological condition ends up untreated and the person continues to suffer the effects of the disorder.

Consider the following: a child that suffers from a psychiatric ailment that may result in excessive sleeping will often label a child as “lazy.” In reality, lazy is a thoroughly abstract term that hardly provides an answer to a problem. In many cases, the child may be suffering from an anxiety disorder that is causing the excessive sleeping. Perhaps the problem could be from depression.

Perhaps there is a physical condition such as a thyroid problem that may be the root of the issue. Regardless, the term “lazy” simply labels the child negatively, as a way of shaming the child into proper behavior. (How an under-active thyroid can be shamed into proper function is never explained) This is where a sleep disorders center becomes valuable as a sleep disorders center can pinpoint the patterns of the sleep disorder and hopefully find a way to prevent it.

The Benefits of a Sleep Disorders Center

A sleep disorders center provides the valuable research of the multitude of issues surrounding a sleep disorder. As such, physicians can pull from this pool of research in order to properly treat the problem. As such, the benefits of sleep disorder centers are far reaching and helpful.

Many times you just need professional help to deal with any problem. Everyone needs coaches and mentors in anything they do. Getting help with sleep disorders is no different. That is why there is a sleep disorders center.

Everyone has problems of one kind or another, you need to be able to admit you have a sleep or depression problem, but realize that going to a sleep disorders center does not make you abnormal or “crazy.” It just means you have to get temporary help to get you the proper amount of sleep.

Night sweats and are common symptoms of menopause. A night sweat is the same as a hot flash but it occurs at night while you are sleeping. Often times, the sweating is more severe than a regular hot flash. Many women find themselves awake in the middle of the night to find their pajamas, sheets and pillow drenched with sweat.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) will help to lessen the symptoms of night sweats and sleep disturbances (insomnia). However, not every woman is a good candidate for HRT. As a result, it is important for you and your doctor to find alternative ways to manage night sweats and sleep disturbances. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor and check with her prior to beginning alternative treatments.

Below are some tips that I got from Rhonda Cravey who writes at Bella Online – The Voice of Women, which is an excellent resource for women.

• Use cotton sheets on your bed. The cotton will allow air to flow around your skin better than other fabrics. Cotton will also effectively absorb the moisture from the night sweat.
• Turn the temperature down on your thermostat. The room you are sleeping in needs to remain at a cool temperature. (I keep my on cold – which is hard on the electric bill during summers in Texas)
• Layer the covers on your bed. Ideally, you should have a sheet, light blanket, and heavy blanket. You can remove and add the covers as needed.
• Wear lightweight, cool clothes when sleeping. Avoid flannel pajamas and long night gowns.
• Take a cool shower prior to going to bed.
• Don’t drink caffeinated beverages right before you go to bed. The caffeine will make it difficult for you to go to sleep and stay asleep.
• Avoid alcoholic drinks prior to bedtime. You may fall asleep quickly but the alcohol will make it difficult for you to stay asleep.
• Avoid eating immediately prior to going to bed.
• Avoid exercising right before you go to bed. Exercising will increase your metabolism making it difficult for you to go to sleep.
• Try some relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation.
• Create and follow a bedtime routine. You might try reading or writing in a journal.
• Follow a diet with adequate portions of protein, fiber, fruits, vegetables and grains.

Sex hormones estrogen and progesterone are produced lesser by the ovaries marking the start of Menopause. This will cause changes in the menstrual cycle as well as other physical changes. Normally, menopause is a gradual process that occurs over several years as your body adjusts to the changes of decreased hormones. However, some cancer treatments will cause a woman to go into sudden menopause. These treatments include surgical removal of the ovaries, radiation or certain kinds of chemotherapy which cause the ovaries to become non-functional.

Common symptoms of menopause are insomnia and night sweats, so just remember that this too will go away. More info about insomnia.
