About me

Welcome to Insomnia-Connection. If you’ve been plagued with the inability to sleep, either as a standalone problem or as a consequence of some other condition, you’ve come to the right place. We have a wealth of information about insomnia – maybe the most of any single internet site – all of it coming from real people who really do have insomnia themselves.

I have been plagued by insomnia for most of my life and started seriously researching sleep in 2003. In 2004 I had accumulated a fair bit of knowledge and decided to either write a book on the subject or start a website. As I had no qualifications back then, the website idea won and Insomnia Connection was born.

I knew absolutely nothing about setting up a website and the poor thing looked a bit amateurish in those days, however you learn as you go and as of the start of 2009, I can say Insomnia Connection and its attached blog is moving from strength to strength.

This is not due just to me, but to you, my loyal subscribers. Some of you have been with me since the beginning, and may I say you are all my family!

Speaking of family I have a husband who has his own business and a daughter and two grandsons – I’ve been told there’s no more – living in South Australia.

I have just finished a Diploma in Holistic Health that seemed to take forever. Now that I’ve finished it, I’m glad I stuck with it.

Feel free to look around the site as much as you want. If you would like to ask a question, introduce yourself or just say “Hi”, feel free to leave a comment on one of the posts. It’s my hope that this site can serve to help people find the sleep that has been eluding them for so long.

  1. Hi,

I have always slept very well until 4 weeks ago I came back from holiday and had very bad jet lag, but as the days went on and my husbands body clock went back to normal I created an anxiety over not being able to sleep and the more i think about it the worse every night is. I went to the doctors after 1 week of not sleeping well and he put me on zopiclone pills and I had them for 2 weeks at a high dose, but they started to not work as well, i went back to the doctor and he said he wouldn’t give me the same dose as i was getting addicted to them so he gave me a lower dose and said my problem was now anxiety, so i am still taking them at a lower dose, but they don’t really do anything and I hate the taste in my mouth, but am so scared i won’t sleep, everytime i get to the point of sleeping nearly i jump and wake up, i think this may be because of the anxiety, my appetite has gone and i feel very low as i think about it all the time, do you have any advise please.
