Eight Ways to Avoid the Cost Of a Snoring Room

Just the fact that builders are including a snoring room in their house plans should alert us to what a common problem snoring is. If you have a partner who snores, this has got to be the ultimate, if expensive, answer. Wouldn’t it be better just to find out how to stop snoring?  Even surgery would be better than the expense of building a snoring room! The article below includes some helpful tips on snoring.

Snoring is so pervasive that builders are currently offering a “snoring room” in new homes. This room is a room found off the master bedroom where either the snorer – or the non-snoring partner – can go when the snoring gets insufferable.

Most of us, nevertheless, just can’t afford to build a room as a “cure” for snoring. Plus – there are a few of us who would like to remain cuddled next to our partner.

If you would like to cut back your snoring, try these tips:

  1. Reduce drinking alcohol, as alcohol will help increase the snoring levels. Minimally, try to not drink alcohol 4-6 hours in advance of going to bed.
  2. Try and keep your nasal passages clear by taking care of your allergies, taking antihistamines, and potentially, trying nasal irrigation.
  3. Keep you bedroom humidity higher – your bedroom humidity should be above 30%.
  4. Stop smoking – or at least, stop smoking at night.
  5. If you are carrying a few pounds, this is a good reason to lose that weight. Heavier folk tend to snore more.
  6. Try avoiding sleeping on your back. Some people attain this by stitching a sock with a tennis ball on the back of their pajamas. A bigger pillow placed against your back can also help stop you from rolling onto your back.
  7. Try a larger king or queen bed pillow that holds your head in position while sleeping. Ideally, you should be able to adjust this pillow for your own personal size, then have that pillow “lock” into position. This may keep your backbone in alignment, which can help reduce snoring.

If not one of the above work, you might want to visit your GP to check for major issues. If required, your medical practitioner might be able to provide you with names of some sleep consultants who will put you through a series of examinations and give you a list of recommendations.

These suggestions might seem time-consuming. And, a visit to your medical practitioner and sleep specialists may be expensive – especially if you don’t have a good health policy. However – it just could be easier – and cheaper – than buying a new home with a sleeping room.
