I am in a relationship and snoring has become an issue. I love this woman with all of my heart, but she can’t handle my snoring. I feel powerless over this issue and horrible that she has to deal with it at all. Is there anything that I can do?

I know the nasal strips work for some people.
Nasal Strips….. or a pillow in the face. lol
hhmmmmm ..get some earplugs…sleep in separate room..sleep face down…
See snoring, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in section 3.
Surgery, nasal strips, and throat sprays
a device to buy from the pharmacy, if it does not work, a laser surgey to remove the uvula.. see your doctor to perform a sleep study, and an overnight oxymetry, if it does not work, then it is difficult
Snoring is caused by the tongue slipping back and partially obstructing the airway (no you cant swallow your tongue) during sleep or relaxation. (while lying on your back) Nasal strips help hold open the nasal passage but it only works well if the person is a nose breather. If the subject is a mouth breather I guess turning them over to remove the natural obstruction to the airway. (not face down). All else fails……separate bedrooms.
Why don’t you try homoeo medicine .we do have a very good medicine take LYCOPODIUM 10 M /DOSE IN THE MORNING IN EMPTY STOMACH AND YOU WILL BE ALRIGHT .
Give her a pillow. Tell her “when I start snoring, hold this over my face.”
You could try the snoring strips that are sold at the stores. A bandaid works just as well. Also lying on your back it what makes it louder. Maybe you can try sleeping in a different position.
Hmmm… Nasal strips… I snore when I’m laying on my back, but when I turn to my side I stop snoring… Maybe the same with you?
I was going to say the pillow treatment, but I felt bad. You should have a sleep study to see if you suffer from apnea. They can give you great suggestions.
You need to get checked out for sleep apnea. Does she also tell you that you stop breathing? If this is NOT the reason and it’s eliminated, then there are a variety of reasons for snoring. Usually it’s caused when someone is sleeping on their back.
You can try the breath right strips to open nasal cavity obstructions. There are homeopathic sprays that will lubricate the airways, to allow you to breath naturally. There are also mechanical devices that can be tied to your wrist while sleeping that will monitor the snoring and then, “tingle” your wrist, causing you to move and stop. Or you can always try the tried and true “old” method of strapping a tennis ball with elastic on your back, so you can’t sleep in that position.
roll over and sleep on your stomach.
In addition to snoring, does she ever say that you sound as if you have stopped breathing then suddenly gasp for breathe? How do you feel when you wake up in the morning? Headache? Dry mouth? not rested? Are you overweight or had significant weight gain in recent years?
If this sounds familiar, you may have sleep apnea and should discuss it with your doctor. There are things you can do about it – cpap, bipap, surgery – none very appealing but sleep apnea is a pretty serious medical condition and people do die from it.
use ear plugs.
Insomnia
ok, for me (I’m a snorer)- nasal strips did not work. I’ve never tried spray. My girlfriend’s husband is a loud snorer and she uses earplugs, it doen’t really go away it lessens it. I found a solution w/o even trying (for me) I stopped drinking caffeine and excess amounts of sugar . I use to drink Coke all day and start my mornings w/ a cup of tea w/ sugar and end it the same way.
NOW, I sleep much better/ deeper and my husband has to check if I’m still breathing. Still once in a while I snore but my husband says it’s not bad AT ALL!!!
Now, if I can get him to do the same.
I have recently added reg. coffee back into my regimen but only one cup in the morning, by 12.
good luck if your a coffee drinker!
