My baby is a month old I breastfeed and sometimes she sleeps 5-6 hours between feeding and she seem fine and is gaining weight okay. Do you think it is fine to let her sleep that long at night because they say to feed every 2-3 hours but there are times she just does not wake up to eat.

I’d let her sleep, if she’s eating really well throughout the day and is gaining weight and seems fine, then sleep away and count your blessings! Babies know whey they’re hungry, and if she’s not, she’s not.
I wouldn’t wake her. but I wouldn’t let her sleep for 8hr. She’ll wake when she’s hungry.
both of my children were sleeping throuigh at 4 weeks, so their last feed was at 10pm and then they would wake in morning at 7am for a feed. they a a gaining heaps of weight and are very happy. my son is now 4 months and still does the same andmy daughter is 2 and she is thrieving. (shes not on milk anymore), but aslong as they a gaining weight and growing just let bubs sleep.
Hey Samie it’s Christy Yoder!! HA HA..I love yahoo answers too! Well I’ll tell you what my pediatrian told me..Until your baby is 10lbs or more wake them up every few hours to feed. Dusty can sleep allll night if I let him but although he’s around 11-12lbs I wont let him sleep for more than 7 hrs at night. Also if you know how much your little one is getting of breastmilk they say to times her weight by 2.5 and thats approx. how much milk she is suppose to get. Good Luck!! I can’t believe its a month already!
I woke my son up only one time for a feeding. That was a mistake I never made again. Yes, they need to eat every few hours. But they will definitely let you know when they are hungry. It’s not like she’s wide awake, hungry, crying and you just aren’t allowing her to nurse. If she’s sleeping, leave her be.
I have a 10 1/2 week baby that i’m breastfeeding and he has gone as long as 8 hrs in between feedings. This happened a couple of days before his 2 mo well baby appt and when i told the doctor she said not to let him. You can let them go one 5 hr stretch at night so your baby is fine. By the way, my baby was nearly 15 lbs at that appt and the doctor still told me to wake him up. A lot of people say the baby will let you know when they’re hungry, but mine won’t. He’ll sleep all night if you let him. When I wake him up now he eats every time though.
Let her sleep. She will always wake up when she’s hungry. My son is 11 weeks now and sleeps between 7-9 hours a night (he slept 12 hours last night which was shocking). I also breastfeed too. My son has more than doubled his birth weight and is a perfectly chubby baby. The pediatrician even told me to not always offer my breast when he cries because I think he’s afraid I’m over-feeding him, which I’m not. My daughter slept long periods of time early on as well and was breastfed.
I used to worry about that too. Enjoy the sleep. My mother always followed the “never wake a sleeping baby” motto. I do too, and don’t worry your baby will wake up when they are hungry. As long as she is gaining weight, I would not worry at all.
As long as she is alert and nursing well, I don’t think you have a problem, but maybe have her checked out by a paediatrician, just for your own piece of mind.
You should always allow your child to sleep as much as they would like without waking them to feed. A baby will let you know once they are hungry. Believe me, they really let you know!
I WOULD JUST LET HER SLEEP AND FEED THE BABY WHEN SHE/HE WAKES UP.
I agree! Thats awsome that she sleeps that long already! Let her sleep. She’ll let you know when she’s hungry, lol.
No more than 8 hours. It would bother me too much if he went longer than that.
Let her sleep!! You’re lucky! She’ll wake when she’s hungry.
ask your doc; they can give you the best advice…
my baby is 2 weeks old,and he is sleeping well in the night.even if i try to wake him up he doesn’t respond to feed
