How Can I Help My Teething 7 Month Old Baby Sleep Better Through The Night?

    By administrator | July 9, 2009

We have been using ambesol (sp?) gel and baby Tylenol but he is still extremely fussy and doesn’t sleep more than 2 hours at a stretch. He used to sleep from 7pm to 6am. Thank you.

There are a lot of good answers here. I work with infants and the teething tablets do work. I never used them with my own children but I use them now at work and the babies settle down quickly. I also know that orajel makes a night time formula – try that too. Tylenol and Advil can be alternated every 3 hours. So if you give him Tylenol before bed and he wakes 3 hours later you can give him Advil and so on. That is better than waiting the 4 to 6 hours between doses. Make sure he eats good before going to bed – children sleep better on a full stomach. Have patience and understanding because it will all go away once the teeth come through. Giving him something hard and cool to chew on during the day might help too. Good luck.

This is going to sound crazy but use beef jerky it is the best thing to use they can chew on it for hours and hours and it does not lose it flavor and they cannot get a piece off that is too big for them to swallow. my daughter got 3 or four out at a time and it was a nightmare also try the homeopathic teething tablets that you get at Wal-Mart and small drug stores they really help.

For adults, making sure the blood sugar level stays level during the night helps lower pain and ease sleep.
Again, for adults, this means a low glycemic carbohydrate diet which includes 5 minute oatmeal for the GLA (gammalinolenic acid – spelling approximate) and salmon or tuna for the omega -3. These natural chemicals help keep blood sugar balanced and slow down the natural production of neurotransmitter chemicals for pain.
As I do not know what is appropriate for 7 month old feedings, I do not know if your babe can handle the oatmeal and fish. Check with his doctor.

Hyland’s Teething Tablets is what we use. They are availiable at most drug stores. They are completely all natural, and contain no medication, so you can give them in combination with Tylenol.

sorry to hear that, try oragel, he will get over it once those teeth push thru.
Keep on using the baby tyenol when he goes to bed don’t give him it all day long or he wont feel the effects as well when he goes to bed…
try giving him a washcloth that was dampened and put in the freezer for awhile, teething rings work good, basically just comfort him when he wakes up at night and try to get him back to sleep by using oragel right after he wakes up, and then cuddle and rock him back to sleep.

Try adding cereal to his last bottle of the night. It may not be the teething that’s keeping him up.

It’s so difficult huh? Sorry to hear that. But children react to things differently. Poor baby. Give Motrin and tylenol alternate them though. Also give the tooth tablets. Motrin will help with inflamation and it also relaxes the muscles. I know it’s hard but it will get better once the baby cuts the tooth. Remember if u get worked up the baby will get worked up so try and soothe yourself too. Take care.

Blunt object + soft head = nighty night.

One of my sons, who is now 27, chewed/gummed beef jerky until there was basically nothing left. Never knew when he cut his teeth, they just appeared and he always slept through the night while teething.
