With my girls I rolled a receiving blanket up the long way and kinda proped along the side of them to keep them from rolling to the side, it was in expensive and did the trick, then it was just a matter of rubbing the tummy until they settled into a deeper sleep, and if that failed, I called grandma! she loved it, and so did the girls, nothing like a little lovin' from grandma (who always has the answer anyway!) good luck. Hope you find the trick that works for you before you see double!

Try waiting until baby has already fallen asleep and then place baby in the crib on his back. Eventually he'll get used to it.

We had the same problem as you with our last 2 kids. We bought whats called a "safe T Sleep", it is a sheet you put in the crib that has a velcro belt attatched. You simply lie baby down and fasten the belt around her waist. She can roll onto her side if she wishes but not her back. We have found these excellent. Good luck!!

Sometimes you can't! My baby is 7 months old- I could never get her to stay on her back! I bought the triangle thingy and everything. She scoot herself up or down to get free of it! I could go in there a dozen times and flip her back to her back, and she'd roll back over in dead sleep! (And she's not fat! LOL) Sometimes it just wont happen!

It's funny, When I was a baby they scolded mothers for putting children on their backs to sleep...I turned out OK?? So did many of my friends my age.
Anyways, try feeding then keeping them awake for a bit and then putting them down awake. It really helps them learn how to fall asleep themselves. Swaddling really helps too.
But, I'm really not against side sleeping.
