Meditation For Insomnia? Works For Me

  • Sharebar

We can’t go for too long without sleep, it rests our bodies, helps our memory and allows our brains to sort useful information from the constant stream that bombards us every day.

Our sleep cycle goes through five different stages. The fifth stage is known as REM (Rapid Eye Movement) Sleep. This stage is characterised by an increased rate of breathing, eye movements and increased brain activity, which allows us to dream. Episodes of REM sleep occur around four or five times a night. This a vital stage of sleep for out mental well-being. It’s as important for our brain as deep sleep is for our bodies.

For those experiencing sleep problems, meditation is a great way to care for that mental well being. Meditation can lower our brainwaves to the level of light sleep and get rid of our worrying and distracting thoughts that sometimes keep us awake. It also decreases our level of stress hormones and increases serotonin (good for insomnia) levels. Meditation ensures we wake up refreshed.

Meditation for insomnia is best listened to when we go to bed, just before dropping off to sleep. Headphones can be used, but you’ll be more comfortable without them.

Download a free meditation recording HERE while it’s still available. It’s supposed to help you relax and interpret your dreams as well. I haven’t tried it yet but will be doing so tonight. Interesting to see if this works!
