Anybody Got A Cure For Insomnia That Doesn’t Require Sleeping Pills?

    By administrator | March 1, 2010

I’ve had insomnia since, well, ever since I can remember. I’ve tried EVERYTHING, from reading before I go to bed, to drinking milk before I go to bed. There really is no cure for insomnia, besides working out and taking a sleeping pill.
If you’re worried about the safety of prescription pills such as Lunesta and others similar to it, there is one alternative that I’ve found to be helpful. It’s called Meletonin, and you can get it at any drug store, off the shelf. It put me out the night I tried it.
I don’t know if it works with everyone though, since my sudden ability to sleep with the help of Meletonin might’ve been also because of the other anti-depressants I’m prescribed to. But I would give it a try, since Meletonin really doesn’t have side effects and is inexpensive and, as far as I know, ok for long-term use. Check with your doctor first, because that’s where I got my recommendation. He/she might have a different alternative similar to Meletonin that would work better for you.
    Hope I helped!!!!! :D

work out….a lot….dont hurt yourself but it will help to make you tired after the initial rush you get from it….stay away from caffiene for a while….dont eat during the last 2 hours before you go to bed….take a warm bath, listen to some soothing music and try to read a book…you could also try placing some white noise such as a fan or even a snowy radio station

I’ve had insomnia since I was eight and never come across a “cure”.
It’s different for everyone and what might work for someone on certains days won’t work on others. Basically, insomnia sucks.
Do a google search and read about some insomnia cures (like tea/milk before bed, reading, no soda after three pm, etc) and try them out. If you find a couple that help, utilize them.
Or do what I do. I figure if I’m going to be awake anyway, I might as well do something useful. So I watch the History/Discovery Channel, write, clean house, go the gym (which sometimes tires me out enough to pass out afterward), train my dog, do my nails, etc until I’m tired enough to get to sleep.

Is it medicine you don’t want to take or just sleeping pills?
If you are “sleeping pill” averse, take
      Best OTC: Benadryl 50 mg.
      Alterative medicine: Nyquil
Other non medicine suggestions are good: avoid caffieine, take exercise early in the day, etc.

Natural remedies include warm milk, melatonin, valerian, 5-HTP and others that you can find in a web search for “natural sleep remedies”.
