Whenever I am stressed, I just cant fall asleep even if I am exhausted physically. How do you get to sleep when you just cannot mentally shut off?
One way is to write down everything that you are worried about and then to keep telling yourself you will deal with it in the morning. Then take a warm bath and i also find reading a book in bed helps me fall to sleep.
If these don’t work then maybe you should talk to your doctor about this so he may prescribe some medication. Good luck

Without medication, you could try taking a warm bath before you go to sleep, eating or drinking anything with triptofan (warm milk, turkey, ect.), you could try falling asleep to a quiet tv or some music, or just laying there until you get bored enough to fall asleep. Its important to try to keep your mind off whatever is stressing you out.
If you aren’t able to sleep and its really affecting you, I would go to a doctor and see if they might be able to help you out.

Yeah, I can be a bummer. You just have to try and relex somehow.
Stress can manifest itself from problems you have been thinking about for some time. And new stressful activities will accumulate into a very highs stress level. By using stress relief techniques you can dump all of your concerns and concentrate on a positive future instead.
Start by releasing every thought from yesterday and be only mindful of what is happening right now. Take 3 deep breaths and slowly release each one, keep your thoughts on the breathing and push away any other thoughts that enter your mind.
At the same time feel your every concern and problem, begin to dissolve them. You can deal with them at a later time. For now, your thoughts should only be in this moment.

I use my CD’s with hypnotherapy “For Inner Peace” or guided meditations. I just put them into CD player and follow the suggestions for breathing and relaxation. Works like a charm. When my mind is switched from whatever was stressing me to whatever the voice is saying I’m out in a matter of minutes.
